David Asher Volunteer Award This annual award was established in honor of David Asher, who died in 1999 at the age of 49. David volunteered with the Swim for Life since its inception, rounding up an assortment of folks, drag queens and friends to cheer on the swimmers, nonstop, until the last one arrived safely on shore. He also was a community activist, involved with many issues and causes.The following people have been recognized for their contribution to the community and the Swim for Life. Thank you to the honorees and all the volunteers who work to make this spiral spit of sand a livable and joyous locale:
