Registration
The Swim is set for Saturday, September 12. Registration is at 9-10:00am on the deck of the Boatslip Resort, 161 Commercial on Provincetown Harbor. The Swim begins at 10:30am. Swimmers will be transported to Long Point from MacMillan Wharf via Ptown Trolley beginning at 9:30am, and swim back to the Boatslip, about 1.4 miles. Non-competitive and competitive swimmers are welcome, as well as paddlers.
Pledge Information
We set up individual "giving pages" as an option for swimmers, kayakers and others who would like to manage their fundraising online. For this first year's experiment we have selected FirstGiving. Let me outline the three ways - and the cost - of collecting pledges:
1. Check + Cash: No fee. The traditional way and it costs the Swim no fees;
2. PayPal: 2.9% fee. Donors may pledge using PayPal by clicking the "Donate" button from any page on or website. It charges 2.9% per transaction, and does not tabulate/manage donated pledges for a particular swimmer;
3. First Giving: 7.5% fee. (This is completely optional.) Each swimmer may set up his or her own donation page with stories, photos, etc. and collect pledges through the site. It should be noted that FirstGiving charges 7.5% of total pledges collected through your giving page.
We hope these additional options are useful to those looking for more online fundraising possibilities.
